Where was FoxNews?

"According to TVeyes.com, Fox News last night during primetime (8-11 p.m.) mentioned the words "Holocaust" and "van Brunn" a grand total of three times. For the entire night."

"Falafel" O'Reilly managed to find more to say about gay penguins and duck sex than this shooting...

While both CNN & MSNBC led with the story at 8:01 pm, FoxNews pretended it didn't happen. It was like their own little holocaust (museum) denial, right before the eyes of their numerous elderly viewers...

Either they just didn't care, or they intentionally downplayed the story for reasons that are unclear...

Pretty friggin' odd, though, especially given all that baseless whining about how CNN supposedly didn't cover the recruiter shooting (which they did, of course.)

Anyway... I'm just putting it out there. Speculate at will.

Long time since I've been around but I saw your post and had to put my two cents in. LOL

Yes, Fox leans right and CNN/MSNBC lean left. I don't think that is even debatable. Media coverage is so left leaning that one news source not "focusing" on one news story isn't that big a deal. Notice I say focusing rather than not covering it. In fact this link....

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,525825,00.html

was on my feed on my homepage. I think this seems like petty nitpicking....I'm sure I could find a lot of stories that CNN and MSNBC do not mention or "focus" on.

I try so hard to be open minded in politics but sometimes it gets the better of me. :-)

I disagree about CNN (& about most news media), though yes, Fox and MSNBC are biased, each to their side. frankly, I like the two angles of the TV twins, as each will tell the part of the story that the other avoids disclosing...

To me, most news media is biased pro-corporate (& occasionally, anti-individual people), rather than right/left, and that includes the twins.

As far as Fox being so gentle on the holocaust story last night, I'll tell you it seemed mighty odd to my wife & I, though no, it isn't ultimately a big deal, unless it turns out there's a reason for it, like von Brunn turns out to be Rupert Murdoch's long lost older brother or something...

Three mentions of one of the major stories of the day during the whole primetime slot (8-11pm) seems fishy to me, especially when all the other cable & broadcast news stations I saw/heard about had it as their headline story, and gave it a good 3 minutes or more... Show me where MSNBC or CNN broke with the herd mentality and gave three mentions in the 3 hour prime time window to a story that everyone else uses as the lead, and I'll say the same about them... It's something I just hadn't seen before...

But yes, your milage may vary...

Did I mention being glad to see you're back?

Thanks repsac! Glad to be back!!

I'll have to keep my eye out and see if it happens with MSNBC when it comes to a "left leaning story" even though I'm not sure that exact definition may fit in this case.

I wish I would have watched the news when the soldier at the recruiting center was killed.

It could be a fluke thing or who knows, maybe there was more to it. We'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for that, now I am going to be looking at all the news channels now that you have me curious! :-)

Sorry... I missed seeing your last comment till now, Jennifer... And even though it's old news now...:

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that partisanship had anything to do with why Fox was so quiet on this story, or that, even if partisanship was the reason, that I have the slightest clue as to how it played in or what it was about...

All I'm saying is, only three mentions of such a big story during the whole three hours of prime time shows on the day the story broke, seemed really, really odd to me...
